Hi I’m Jonelle

Jonelle

Welcome to my blog, I'm Jonelle; a writer, ostomate, Community Development Practitioner and I live in Cape Town with my husband Gerard, our son Oden and our four pets. We are currently in the process of moving to New Zealand.

I'm a huge fan of letting go of who we are supposed to be in favour of embracing who we are!

Spoiler: This blog is about being a woman in the world today, it's raw, it's real and I'm unapologetically authentic!

  • Look at her pretending she's not staring at me. This sneaky little bugger. She's literally in my face asking for love but pull the camera out and she's all sweet and innocent 😂

  • We are moving to New Zealand in a few weeks. One of the things that I'm most looking forward to is the outdoor lifestyle we will be able to have. Walking in parks and forests is one of my favourite things to do and I always love being in countries with a low crime rate because I love to wander. Yesterday, walking through #kirstenbosch was a bit of a reminder of why we are fighting so hard to get to our new life. It seems like such a small thing but having a toddler has really changed the way I see the world and being safe is definitely my new priority.

  • Oh Kirstenbosh, you've got magical powers and the ability to make me feel brand new 🖤

  • This photo is one of my favourite photos of myself, taken on the ferry to Robben Island. It was my first visit and I was so apprehensive about seeing
Where Nelson Mandela
was kept prisoner. I cried for most of the tour. Thankful for the sacrifices that man made, so that I could live a life based on freedom and equality. He literally gave his freedom so that I could have mine.
Anyway its just a picture of a girl on a boat but it always reminds me of that feeling I get when I think about how before he Changed the world, I would have been nothing in my own land.

  • Throwback to that time I was so cool at my kitchen tea. So much has changed since then. My life is exactly and nothing like I pictured it would be. I'm truly so lucky to be here!
