After weeks and weeks and weeeeeeeeks at home, we finally moved from Level 4 into Level 3 which means we are allowed to DRIVE to places for walks. We live in Brooklyn, it’s incredible, we have the best view from our house but that also means we are surrounded by hills and walking is a pain.
With a small child, we rarely manage to walk far enough to actually enjoy the outside world. Lock down level 3, which allows us to use our car and stay local, means we could indulge our child who has been begging to walk in a forest and drive the 5 minutes to Brooklyn Central Park and spend an hour wandering around in the forest. Perfection.
We found this beautiful butterfly lying on the ground, Oden was heartbroken that it had died. He picked it up and admired how beautiful it is “mommy, it has beautiful wings” and then we walked on and he gave me a lecture about the teenage kids that were playing on the playground. I was really surprised at how disciplined he was about walking right past it.
This walk was exactly what my mental well being needed.
