People who pass the blame onto everyone else and people who take responsibility for their lives.
Which one are you?
It’s so much easier to sit back and say “it’s their fault”, “they did it,” “it wasn’t me.” It’s so much easier to remove yourself from all blame and say “I had nothing to do with it.”
These are the people who blame others when things go wrong in their lives. They are the people who say they didn’t pass the test because the teacher didn’t teach them. They are the people who never bothered to learn.
These are the people who say, “we have nothing because of him,” instead of saying “we did it all on our own.”
I don’t think I could be truly happy if I never claimed my failures.
I don’t think I could be happy never taking responsibility for the things that go wrong in my life but perhaps I’m just a different kind of person?
Perhaps for me, there is more honour in trying, and failing, than to never try at all. Perhaps it’s more noble to do something badly than to blame another for a failure I had made.
I think it’s a part of why I don’t agree with religion. It’s too easy to say “it’s in God’s hands” and “God will provide” that sometimes people forget the part that says God helps those who help themselves.
It’s too easy to sit back and hand out blame.
We’ve all done it, we’ve all said “it wasn’t me.” Shaggy wrote an entire song about it. It’s not always easy to take responsibility for the bad things that happen in our lives. In fact, it is usually much easier to sit back and point fingers and pass the buck onto someone else.
“They” are the cause and “you” made me feel.
But it’s not like that at all.
Everything that happens in our lives is something that we can take responsibility for. We are enablers of everything that happens to us and in our lives. We have the power to make the decisions, to change the way things are, to make sure that we are in control of our own destiny.
There will always be things that happen outside of our control. What shows our character, is the manner in which we respond to those things. The actions we take to rectify those things and the dignity with which we live our lives. There is no dignity in saying I am who I am because of the things you have done. No, dignity comes from standing tall and saying, I am who I am because of the actions I have taken. In spite of what you may or may not have done.
There are two kinds of people in this world.
Those who say “it wasn’t my fault”
And those who say, “I did it my way”!
Which one are you?
Perhaps more importantly…
Which type do you want to be?

Every person should be responsible for his or her actions. We have the thing called “choice”. I choose do to do it my way; I choose to do what is right. Good blog.

Thanks Gorge and I totally agree with you. It’s the small decisions that show our character in the end!
